By 16:30 today (070523), 15 tons of food had been collected in the 21st Food Bank Against Hunger -Madeira campaign across 25 supermarkets.
Compared to the same time last year this year’s campaign was done by a tonne. However, Fátima Aveiro, President of the Food Bank in Madeira, was confident that donations would continue to flow until the supermarkets closed.
It should also be noted that in addition to this weekend’s campaign, supermarkets are still offering their checkout donation appeal until the end of the month.
Fátima Aveiro would also like to thank everyone who took part in the initiative.
A total of 25 tonnes was raised in May 2022.
