Discotheques are feeling the heat

Youngsters who want to enter a club or disco now have to both be Covid tested and vaccinated. This has had a positive impact on the vaccination rate on the island. Testing, however, is the problem. Our health network, with hospitals and pharmacy tents all over the island, managed already around 20.000 tests a day but in order to test the whole population once per week, they would have to do around 32.000 tests a day.

The instruction by the Government was to have supermarkets, shopping centres etc. to check that customers have the vaccination or a weekly test. Restaurants, bars and such are under an AND condition. Maybe these spaces haven’t’ read the memo; very few places ask for the paperwork or the QR code in the mobile.
