On his first official visit as Regional Finance Secretary, and Public Administrator for Porto Santo, Rogério Gouveia, confirmed that with the extension of the Porto Santo Resident Mobility Allowance, all Portosantenses will pay a flat fee of €10.70 to travel by ferry to Madeira or €21.40 return. This he says will allow the residents of Porto Santo to travel more feely and feel less isolated. The new travel costs should come into effect in December.
Air travel will remain the same, with tickets costing €25.00, which will be the same for both Madeirans and Portosantenses. At the moment he said the subsidies cannot be more ambitious, as further studies regarding air travel demand and overall costs need to be implemented.
