100 Volunteers Clean Calhau da Lapa

One hundred volunteers turned up to the Calhau da Lapa beach cleaning initiative organised by ‘Amigos do Calhau da Lapa,’ who challenged various local entities to help with the end of summer clean up campaign.

Approximately one tonne of environmental waste was collected, with metals accounting for 840 kg. Furthermore, Calhau da Lapa has become a fashionable bathing spot, and as such, needs to be protected.  And it is not just bathing, the site is an important geological, environmental, historical, heritage and ecological area.

Paulo Andrade, Councilor of the Ribeira Brava City Council, and initiative partner thanked everyone,  including local firefighting diving teams, who carried out a series of underwater cleaning roles, for all their hard work.

Last but not least, everyone was invited out to a Municipality lunch.
