Dog Rescued From A Water Tank

Yesterday, the Associação Ajuda a Alimentar Cães rescued two dogs living in terrible conditions from a private property in São Vicente.

The first dog, which was chained, was living in filthy conditions and surviving on rotten food.  The association stated that the dog was in a terrible state, smelt awful and was full of fleas, ticks and his coat was so matted he looked like he had dreadlocks.

During the rescue, members of the association found a second dog, a female trapped in a water tank.

Taking to their social media pages, the association said:

“We cannot accept these situations, they cannot be allowed.  No animal can live like this, deprived of every freedom and living in cruelty.  Animals deserve dignity, and dignity is not living in a golden castle, it is having the minimum living conditions, which include hygiene, comfort and love.”

The rescue mission was carried out in the presence of Public Security Police (PSP), and both dogs were taken away for veterinary treatment.  Once recovered, they will both be available for adoption.
