Depression Lola Looms on the Horizon

As of tomorrow afternoon, Thursday the 22nd of April, the weather is set to deteriorate as depression Lola begins to make her presence felt. Wind intensity will become moderate to strong, with gusts up to 80 km/h expected in mountainous, eastern, and western regions of the island.

The worst of the weather is expected on Saturday the 24th and Sunday the 25th, as periods of rain, often heavy, is expected to fall.  Downpours may also be accompanied by thunderstorms.

Maritime unrest will increase from the 23rd, with northwest waves measuring from 3.5 to 4.5 metres (with a maximum of 7 to 8 metres) on the north coast of Madeira and Porto Santo. On the south coast of the island waves should reach 2.5 to 3.5 metres but could increase to 5 to 6 metres.
