The President of the Regional Government, Miguel Albuquerque has said that this year the Madeira Wine Rally may not go ahead. At the moment, the governments goal is to have 70% of the population vaccinated by the end of the summer, which will allow certain events, such as the Flower Festival to go ahead in September.
When asked about the Madeira Wine rally, which historically takes place over the the first weekend in August, the President said “we will see, it is still too early. These are decisions that can only be made in collaboration with the health authorities, and we must be careful not to let the virus take hold again.”
