Curfew Begins at Midnight

The Regional Government has passed a resolution regarding the restriction of movement. The resolution states that “as of 00:00 on the 5th of January 2021, while the state of emergency is in force or there are municipalities at high risk, travelling on public roads is prohibited in the Autonomous Region of Madeira between 11 pm and 5 am, with the following exceptions:”
  1. Professional travel, as attested by declaration;
  2. Health professionals and other workers from health and social support institutions;
  3. Civil protection agents, military personnel, inspectors from the Regional Economic Activities Authority (ARAE) and security forces;
  4. Religious ministers;
  5. Diplomatic and consular staff/missions;
  6. Travel for health reasons;
  7. Emergency reception of victims of domestic violence or human trafficking;
  8. Assistance to vulnerable people or people with disabilities;
  9. Fulfillment of parental responsibilities;
  10. Urgent medical-veterinary assistance;
  11. Exercise of freedom of the press;
  12. Short and pet-friendly walks;
  13. Homecoming within the scope of admitted travel;
  14. Travel to the airport for passenger embarkation and disembarkation;
  15. Travel by public transport, taxis and TVDE, within the scope of the exceptions allowed in this paragraph;
  16. Other grounds of force majeure, provided that they can be shown to be unavoidable or justified.
