When questioned about the Covid outbreak at the Hospital dos Marmeleiros, in Funchal, Miguel Albuquerque, the President of Madeira, assured reporters and citizens that the ‘transmission chain has been identified’ and that the situation is under control.
He went on to say, “Right now we have the situation under control. Unfortunately, we have already had two deaths as a result of the outbreak, also two people have died as a result of one person’s irresponsible attitude, and that’s all I need to say about that!’ Growled the President who further reiterated that it is everyone’s duty to be careful during this ‘difficult’ phase.
When asked about the forty identified active transmission chains, the President said that it was to be expected as more and more people were returning to the island for the festive season.
