Cruising – Testing is Mandatory if You Want to Disembark

The first cruise ship to dock in Funchal since the beginning of the pandemic, SeaDreamI carrying 100 passengers, is scheduled to arrive on Saturday the 24th of October. All passengers who wish to disembark must present a negative PCR test or undergo a test on arrival.  However, those who are tested in Madeira will have to wait for their results before disembarking, which could take longer than the 12 hours the ship is scheduled to remain in Funchal harbour.

The strategy will be similar to that used at the airport said Regional Health Secretary Pedro Ramos.  Anyone wishing to leave the ship must present a negative test result.  These safety measures have been in effect since the 1st of July and so far, the Regional Government has spent 10 million euros in testing those entering the territory.
