The President of Madeira, Miguel Albuquerque, again justified the use of masks by saying that the exponential increase in positive cases of Covid-19 in Madeira does not surprise the Regional Government, which, for this very reason, they enforced the use of masks outdoors.
The leader of the Regional Government of Madeira again justified his mandatory mask wearing measure by saying that the increase in the number of tourists over the next couple of months, which is estimated at 150,000 and the re-opening of schools made mask wearing an effective solution against the spread of the virus.
Unfortunately, he said some individuals and groups have tried to create political strife from the situation, and some hoteliers have made less than complimentary comments about the new law. “But hey,” he said “that’s democracy!”
