Covid Killing Air Filter

An air filter has been developed by a team of researchers at the University of Houston, U.S.A. which they say is capable to killing the coronavirus instantly.

According to the ‘Diário de Notícias, the team claim in their published study that during initial tests the filter killed up to 99.8% of coronavirus virion’s (virus particles).

In a statement by Zhifeng Ren, one of the researchers, confirmed that the filter, which is made from nickel foam, is heated to 200 degrees, and as the virus cannot survive temperatures greater than 70 degrees heating to this level ensures that it is killed instantly.  This filter is suitable for use in airports, aircraft, offices, schools and cruise ships and will control any possible transmission of the virus effectively.

However, researchers believe that this new innovation should be installed gradually.  Ideal initial locations they say are where workers are at a high risk of exposure such as schools, hospitals, medical facilities, public transport and aircraft.
