The Port of Funchal was busy today, due to the arrival of cruise liners 'Azura' and 'Costa Pacifica,' which between them were carrying nearly seven thousand passengers and crew.
For the first time, Madeira has been nominated in the 'Best European Cruise Destination' category at the 'World Cruise Awards.' Other contenders include, Athens, Barcelona, Croatia, Kotor (Montenegro), Lisbon, London, Monaco, Nice Costa D'Azur, Oslo and Rome.

The Ports of Madeira, Funchal and Porto Santo, has confirmed that during Easter week (Sunday 10th until tomorrow the 17th), 21 cruise liners carrying a total of 11,556 passengers and 8,032 crew will have docked in the region.
