British Airways has announced that it will be suspending all its flights to Madeira until at least February.
The impact of restrictions imposed by Portugal on connections with the United Kingdom is already being felt in the region, as EasyJet, TUI Airways and Jet2 flights from London, Bristol and the East Midlands to Madeira have been cancelled.
The good news is that there is increasing evidence that Madeira is slowly beginning to recover from the pandemic as the latest information from the airport confirms that flights are expected to increase from 60 a week during July to a 140 per week in August.
Although mainland Portugal is outside the UK tourist corridor, Madeira and the Azores are included on the list that the British Government will publish today for countries and territories, where British tourists are exempt from the mandatory 14-day quarantine on their return. This new measure comes into effect on the 10th of July.
