Economy Should Only Re-Open if Daily Cases Drop Further

In an interview, Herberto Jesus, who became the Director for Regional Health in November 2020, said that from the first hour of his appointment he has dedicated himself to the fight against the  coronavirus. “It has been a mind-boggling trip,” he admits. “It has been a very intense, and I am totally committed to fighting the battle against Covid.”

JPP Finalise Madeira – Porto Santo Air Mobility Document

Political Party, Juntos Pelo Povo (JPP) has confirmed that they will meet on Monday, the 8th of March in Porto Santo, to finalise the Madeira - Porto Santo Air Mobility document. In their statement, Élvio Sousa, spokesperson for the initiative and Parliamentary Leader of the JPP said:

Events to be Cancelled or Postponed Until After September

The President of the Regional Government, Miguel Albuquerque has said that this year the Madeira Wine Rally may not go ahead.  At the moment, the governments goal is to have 70% of the population vaccinated by the end of the summer, which will allow certain events, such as the Flower Festival to go ahead in September.

Vaccines Arrive

A further batch of 5,850 Pfizer arrived yesterday on a TAP flight.  The vaccines are currently stored at an airport warehouse, and will be transported under Public Security Police (PSP) guard to the the Dr. Nélio Mendonça Hospital tomorrow morning.
