Coastal Pollution Controls Tightened

During the first six months of this year, over one hundred complaints have been made about coastal pollution, and about fifty-five clear-up operations have taken place.  Due to this, and the increased focus and awareness of the detrimental effects of marine pollution, technical teams from the Environment Directorate and from the municipalities are increasing the number of inspections they carry out in problem areas. 

Taking the Plunge

The President of the Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, who returns to the mainland today, took advantage of the good weather this morning by diving into the sea and enjoyed a quiet swim before attending today's Portugal Day Parade.
