The number of Portuguese and Portuguese descendants killed due to Wednesday’s earthquakes in Venezuela has risen to 68, with 74 still missing, according to the latest balance released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MNE).
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, among the 68 dead, 59 of whom were also Venezuelan nationals, are 10 children and 58 adults.
The previous balance sheet reported 60 Portuguese and Portuguese descendants among the fatalities of the double earthquake that hit Venezuela on the 24th. So far, figures show 1,943 fatalities and 10,571 injured.
Official data also indicate more than 15,000 people are homeless, said the President of the parliament, Jorge RodrĂguez, updating the latest toll of victims, which was 1,719 dead and 5,034 injured.
According to authorities, 6,461 people have been rescued since the start of relief operations.
