““We are facing the most difficult moment in our history,” says the Association Ajuda a Alimentar Cães (Help to Feed Dogs) as they appeal for support to save their “little corner of Madeira that saves lives.” According to their social media, they need to raise 75 thousand euros to purchase their centre and headquarters. So far, their GoFundMe campaign has brought in 14,997 euros as of 11:30 this morning.
In the description of the appeal, and as the organisation writes, “In 2023, for the first time, we were able to rent a small space that became our headquarters and shelter. The lease on our little corner ends in January, and we have to leave. We have already received the assignment of the contract. We are allowed to buy the space, but we don’t have the means to do so.
We need 75,000 euros to ensure that this ‘Corner that Saves Lives’ continues to exist. Without this space, we will have nowhere to go, and our animals will be homeless. “This corner of hope has already saved more than 1450 lives. Here we facilitated 358 adoptions in 2023, 670 adoptions in 2024, and so far, in 2025, 422 adoptions.
The Association Ajuda a Alimentar Cães was created eleven years ago from a simple request for help. One day, a 14-year-old girl asked for help in feeding her dogs, and from that moment, a chain of love was born that has never stopped.
Since then, “we have worked tirelessly in the Autonomous Region of Madeira, rescuing dogs and cats in situations of abandonment, hunger, and daily suffering. Thousands of lives have already been saved thanks to the efforts of volunteers and the support of those who believe in us. We are launching this fundraiser with hope and faith that, together, we will succeed. With small donations, many hearts can save this home that, for so many years, has given love and security to those who have nothing else.”
Help us buy this little corner and continue to save lives. Because each euro is a brick of hope and each sharing is a hand extended to those who need it most. Contribute, share, and help us not to give up. The future of hundreds of dogs and cats depends on you and on us,” appeals the institution.
