A power cut interrupted operations at the Madeira International Airport this morning.
As far as reporters were able to ascertain, the origin was an alleged power failure, which forced the entire airport infrastructure to resort to using its back-up generators. Although the incident only lasted a couple of minutes, the knock-on effects were felt throughout the airport.
Witnesses said the blackout lasted around six minutes, from 07:03 to 07:11, but its impact lingered after the power came back on, particularly at baggage control and security, which affected approximately 200 passengers.
However, the situation was eventually resolved around 08:00.
