Tomorrow, the 30th of October, work to widen the deck of the Quinta Bridge begins, as part of the contract to reformulate the Cancela Interchange, confirms a press statement from the Regional Secretariat for Equipment and Infrastructures, through the Regional Directorate of Roads.
This intervention will lead to traffic conditioning on the Expressway, in the direction of Machico-Ribeira Brava, between the Junction of Caniço-16 and the Pinheiro Grande Junction-14, more specifically on the approach to the work area located next to the Cancela-15 Junction.
“Over the approximately 10-month execution period, several restrictions will be in place, including narrowed traffic routes, a maximum speed limit of 60 km/h, a ban on overtaking, and a restriction on heavy vehicles using the left lane,” the Secretariat explained.
Furthermore, the access road to Via Rápida, at the Cancela-15 junction, in the direction of Machico-Ribeira Brava, will be prohibited to heavy vehicles.
In addition, during the period referred to, the “transit road between the Cancela-15 junction and the Pinheiro Grande junction-14, in the direction of Machico-Ribeira Brava, will be closed, once or twice a week, during the night to allow specific work to be carried out. Effective dates of these closures will be scheduled according to the actual progress of the work and disclosed in due advance.”
“The Regional Secretariat for Equipment and Infrastructures calls for the public’s understanding of any inconvenience caused and calls on the compliance with the detour signage that will be installed at the site,” the press note concludes.
