Rui Caetano, PS candidate for Funchal City Council, wants public transport company Horários do Funchal (HF) to take responsibility for users who have suffered accidents inside their buses.
In a statement, he guarantees that “he has been informed of the case of an elderly woman who fell while travelling on a bus. A situation that continues to force her to receive orthopedic medical treatment. However, her dealings with the company’s insurers have been unsatisfactory, with the insurers being arrogant and refusing to resolve the situation. Furthermore, the woman was told that the company did not deal with third-party claims and that she will not be compensated for the damages. After remonstrating with HF, they told her to put pressure on the insurers.
For Rui Caetano, HF’s decision to absolve itself of all responsibility is deeply worrying, undermining confidence in the public transport system.
