Poor Visibility Affects Airport

Several flights were diverted to other airports due to visibility problems at Madeira Airport – Cristiano Ronaldo. The situation is expected to last for several hours, as seven flights are expected to be diverted.

The first flight to be diverted was from Hannover (X32830), Germany, (Tuifly). Another flight from the same carrier, coming from Frankfurt (X32806), was also diverted to Porto Santo.

A Ryanair flight (FR366), coming from Porto, headed to Tenerife, in the Canary Islands, after failing to complete the approach to Madeira Airport. Two other flights originating from Poland were also diverted to Tenerife. Luckily, an EasyJet plane coming from the Netherlands managed to land successfully.
