Jorge Atouguia and doctors Afonso André Silva, Rui Coelho, Leonardo Andrade, Nancy Faria, and Ana Paula Reis were the trainers of the first course on sexually transmitted infections, organised by the Department of Infectious Diseases Service of SESARAM.
The 8-hour training course was held at the Dr. Nélio Mendonça Hospital. The 44 students’ training comprised theoretical sessions and discussions aiming to identify new scientific and clinical aspects of sexually transmitted infections.
The programme addressed topics such as the global and national epidemiology of sexually transmitted infections, urethritis and cervicitis, genital ulcers, syphilis, human papillomavirus, monkeypox (monkeypox), hepatitis B and C, HIV and PrEP, as well as prevention strategies beyond vaccination.”
The opening session was attended by the chairman of the Board of Directors of SESARAM, Herberto Jesus, the clinical director, José Júlio Nóbrega, the president of the Medical Council of the Autonomous Region of Madeira, Gil Bebiano, and the scientific coordinators of training and medical coordinators of the Infectious Diseases Service of SESARAM, EPERAM, Ana Paula Reis, and Nancy Barros.
