Miguel Albuquerque responded to harsh criticism from Manuel Oliveira, from the National Union of Drivers (SNMOT), categorically stating that the Regional Government “does not work with blackmailers and much less does it work with this type of threats.” The response comes from the SNMOT’s threat that bus drivers would strike on the 20th of July, the day of the PSD ChĂŁo da Lagoa party.
“I don’t want to know anything about this, gentlemen. He thinks he can create unrest here like he does on the continent. Well, I tell him now, the path here will be a lot more difficult.”
Concluding, the President said that the Regional Government is “always available to dialogue, providing it is constructive and has realistic aims. We will never submit to force!”
