This morning, the President of the Government Regional, Miguel Albuquerque, visited the new Lombo do Salão Irrigation Water Reservoir in Calheta.
This new infrastructure represents an investment of 1.8 million euros, co-financed under the Rural Development Programme of the Autonomous Region of Madeira – PRODEU 2020.
This irrigation tank, built by ARM, has a capacity of 3,000 m3, in reinforced concrete, which will allow: increased availability of water to farmers in the parish of Calheta; increase the capacity of water storage; improve the quality of service provided and contribute to the sustainability of the agricultural sector.
The construction of the Lombo do Salão Irrigation Water Reservoir will benefit 716 irrigators, 673 farms, in an area of 70.07 hectares, in the parish of Calheta.
The reservoir is built from reinforced concrete and equipped with command and automation equipment, online supervision and telecommunications, with interconnection to the ARM Remote Management Centre (located in Funchal), which allows for remote control operations.
