Due to bad weather, the Portuguese Institute of Atmosphere and Sea (IPMA), has placed the Madeira Archipelago under a yellow warning for Monday the 20th and Tuesday the 21st of January.
According to the IPMA, the North Coast is under a yellow warning between 09:00 – 15:00 on Monday due to heavy rain and the warning is still in force between 21:00 – 06:00 on Tuesday due to the strong sea agitation predicted.
A yellow warning was also issued for rain and wind on the coast South, between 09:00 – 15:00 on Monday.
The Mountain Regions are under a yellow warning between 09:00 – 15:00 on Monday due to heavy rainfall and strong wind.
In Porto Santo the warning is in effect for the wind between 09:00 and 15:00 on Monday and between 21:00 and 06:00 on Tuesday due to sea agitation.
