Nickel Arrives in Madeira

Nickel, a financial payment institution, continues to expand its services and has now arrived in Madeira, specifically in the municipalities of Funchal, Ponta do Sol, and Ribeira Brava.

There are, for now, four new points of sale established in local businesses such as tobacconists and stationery stores, which are now part of the more than 650 Nickel agents in the national territory.

With the largest physical network of points of sale, the subsidiary institution of BNP Paribas continues to invest in expanding its presence in Portugal in order to contribute to innovation in the sector, democratize access to financial services, and contribute to the dynamism of local commerce.

Nickel, today has more than four million customers in  – France, Portugal, Spain, Belgium, and Germany -, has an innovative and hybrid business model that allows the opening of a payment account in a simple and fast way, immediately giving the customer a Mastercard Nickel Classic debit card associated with a Portuguese IBAN.

The account opening process can be started online on the Nickel Portugal website and completed in person at a Nickel agent or carried out entirely in person, also by Nickel Agents, who are trained to provide the respective service.

This account allows you to carry out essential financial operations, such as withdrawals, cash deliveries to Nickel agents, domiciliation of salary and other income, free national and international transfers in the SEPA+ zone, configuration of direct debits, online purchases in a secure way, among others. With this expansion, Nickel guarantees all Madeirans access to practical and convenient financial services, with no restrictive schedules or complications.

“The arrival in Madeira reinforces our commitment to the transformation of the financial sector, offering a simple and accessible solution that allows all citizens to manage their day-to-day finances. At Nickel, we believe that everyone, regardless of their location, should have access to essential financial services, and expanding into Madeira is an important step in our mission to serve all communities,” says João Guerra, CEO of Nickel Portugal.
