The south coast and the mountainous regions of Madeira were this morning until 09:00 underan orange warning due to heavy rain and showers.
Under this warning, the second most serious on a scale of three, which was in force between 03:00 and 9:00 am, precipitation data showed that from 00:00 the Funchal/Observatory weather station recorded a total of 21.7 mm of rainfall accumulated, with 11.5mm of rain falling in just one hour.
Chão do Areeiro weather station recorded 66.5mm of rainfall between 00:00 and 09:00, followed by Pico do Areeiro, with 49.9mm.
Strong winds with gusts exceeding 100km/h were registered at the Sta. Catarina/Aeroporto, Chão do Areeiro, and Caniçal weather stations.
