On the 14th of February, the Regional Secretariat for Health and Civil Protection and Novartis Portugal will sign a collaboration protocol to explore new models of collaboration in the health ecosystem, through the implementation of an integrated approach to cerebro-cardiovascular diseases. The signing of the protocol will take place at 14:30, at the Centre for Studies and History of the Atlantic, in Funchal.
According to the Regional Secretariat for Health and Civil Protection, this is a pioneering programme of longevity and cardiovascular innovation that aims to promote the prevention of cerebro-cardiovascular diseases, the reduction of their impact, and the early detection of events associated with them, namely cerebrovascular accidents (CVA) and acute myocardial infarction, respectively the first and second causes of death in Portugal.
“The implementation of this programme will be based on three pillars with an impact on the community, health care, and longevity: Data Intelligence – positioning Madeira as a reference in the use of data and Clinical Research; Technological Innovation combined with Therapeutic Innovation – Automated identification and urgent intervention in patients at imminent risk of a cardiovascular event and Creation of an Advanced Cardiovascular Longevity Unit based on international best practices.”
The Regional Secretariat also emphasizes that this protocol is part of the Regional Strategy for the promotion of public policies for longevity and the Regional Health Plan 2021-2030.
