The Regional Directorate of Health (DRS) has announced that the normative references and recommendations inherent to vaccination against influenza and Covid-19 have been updated, to include free vaccinations for those aged between 50 and 54 years old.
According to a note issued by the Regional Secretariat for Health and Civil Protection, the extension of free seasonal vaccination follows intense flu activity and the current availability of vaccines.
Now, the flu vaccination is free for people aged between 50 and 54. Whereas in the past, it was only free for those aged 55 and over and to people with chronic diseases, immunocompromised, or with specific pathologies that determine greater susceptibility to severe disease and its complications, pregnant women, health professionals, and other care providers (social sector, early childhood education, and pre-school). Also included, are people in specific contexts, such as residents in institutions, hospitalised in health facilities, patients supported by home services, and critical service professionals.
Covid-19 vaccinations are available to all groups highlighted above and people aged between 18 and 54 who want to be vaccinated.
