A tourist was seriously injured on Saturday, the 24th while walking along a levada close to the Ginjas Business Park, São Vicente.
Although information is scarce, the tourist is believed to have fallen approximately 10 metres and was rescued by officers of the São Vicente and Porto Moniz Fire Department (BVSVPM) mountain rescue team, and transported to the Accident and Emergency Department of the Dr. Nélio Mendonça Hospital.
A second incident was recorded yesterday, involving a group of tourists and a rather large rock.
While walking along Levada Nova, Arco da Calheta, the group suddenly heard a ‘very loud noise,’ as a large boulder rolled down the mountain, destroying everything in its path, including a small levada before coming to an abrupt stop in an abandoned house.
Luckily, no one was hurt in the incident.
