Data from the Regional Statistics Directorate indicates that although 91% of Madeiran companies intend to keep their staff on until the end of the year, 9% have said that they will probably dismiss staff before the 31st of December. However, 85% of companies questioned intimated that they intend to increase the number of people they employ in 2021.
According to the Regional Directorate of Statistics of Madeira (DREM), which today released results for the week 11th – 19th of November for – ‘COVID -IREE – Quick and Exceptional Survey of Companies,’ 94% of companies expressed a high or moderate degree of concern regarding a possible worsening or prolongation of measures designed to contain the pandemic.
Studies by the National Statistics Institute (INE) and the Banco de Portugal (BdP) also reveals that a little over half of all companies assume a negative or very negative impact on the evolution of turnover as a result of containment measures in the face of the pandemic.
