PCP-Madeira has called for the price of a 13-kilogram butane gas cylinder to be capped at €20, including taxes, arguing that current prices place a significant burden on household budgets.
During an initiative on Rua Dr. Fernão Ornelas, in Funchal, on Wednesday, the 7th of October, Ricardo Lume highlighted the price difference between Madeira and the Azores.
According to figures presented by the party, a 13-kilogram cylinder costs €31.87 in Funchal, compared with €23.50 in Ponta Delgada (Azores), a difference of €8.37.
“It is not acceptable that a Madeiran family has to pay €8 more for a 13-kilogram gas cylinder,” Lume said, calling for intervention to bring prices down.
In September, the PCP submitted a bill to the Assembly of the Republic proposing a maximum retail price of €20 for a 13-kilogram butane gas cylinder, including taxes.
