Wind gusts of 80 and 73 km/h have already been recorded this Monday in Madeira. Early this morning, the weather station at Chão do Areeiro recorded guts of up to 80 km/h, followed by Santo da Serra, with 73 km/h. At Madeira Airport, the Santa Catarina weather station recorded 65 km/h, while in the Pico Alto area, a single gust measured 66 km/h.
Heavy rains were recoreded since 00:00 am this morning. Chão do Areeiro accumulated 128.1 mm of rain, followed by the Ponta do Pargo weather station, in Calheta, with 77.1 mm.
Pico Alto (51.9 mm) and Monte (46.1 mm) also recorded significant values. In Funchal, the accumulated rainfall was 13.7 mm, while in Santa Cruz, in the Airport area, 15.5 mm.
Interestingly, several weather stations – including Cancela, Prazeres, Pico do Areeiro, Chão do Areeiro, and Monte – recorded humidity levels of 100%.
Despite the rain and strong wind, temperatures remained relatively high for this time of year, with highs of 25.5°C in Funchal and Porto Santo, 24.9°C in Santa Catarina, and 25.2°C in Lugar de Baixo.
Madeira is currently under a yellow wind warning from 09:00 to 18:00. Light rain is also forecast.
