Orange Weather Alert

This morning, the Portuguese Institute of Atmosphere and Sea (IPMA) issued a yellow heat warning for the mountainous regions of the Region. However, the warning was changed to orange, due to elevated temperature levels.

The warning will remain in effect until 19:00 on Wednesday, reads the MSM weather forecast.  The south coast of Madeira will remain under a yellow warning until Tuesday afternoon.

Peversely, the airport’s operationality was compromised due to low cloud and rain.  The weather didn’t impede departures, but at least four incoming flights had to circle until weather conditions improved.

It was also raining in Caniço and São Gonçalo.
