A parking meter inspector says he was assaulted today at 11:00, in Calheta.
Manuel Mendes reported to local newspaper, DIÁRIO, that he was working as normal, inspecting vehicles parked on Avenida D. Manuel I, in Calheta.
“I was simply doing my job when a man got out of his car and slapped me in the face and then behind my ear.”
“The man wanted to escape, but luckily, a Pingo Doc driver blocked the car. I had to go to hospital for medical treatment as I was left with a swollen face, ringing in my ears, and my eye was trembling.”
The inspector, who has been working for 12 years, has never experienced anything like this.
The Public Security Police were called to the scene.
