Let’s Talk Bats

The program ‘Aos Sábados no Parque,’ a Funchal Municipal Park initiative, takes place at the Funchal Ecological Park, on the 28th of June, between 19:30 and  22:30.  The evening is dedicated to bats and their relevance in ecosystems.

Called ‘Bats without myths – discover their role in the environment,’ it promises to continue to provide a unique nature experience. The session will be facilitated by Eva K. Nóbrega, biologist and researcher at the University of Lisbon, and will have a theoretical presentation, followed by a night field trip for the detection of bats in their natural habitat, using specialised equipment.

As part of their collaboration, the Funchal City Council invites all citizens, especially nature lovers, to participate in this excellent opportunity to deepen their knowledge about bats and the fundamental role they play in the environmental balance.

Session programme (28 June):

19:30 – Presentation on bats

20:30  – Visit and verification of occupation of bat shelters in the Ecological Park

The session includes a field component, and everyone is advised to wear comfortable shoes and appropriate clothing.

Participation is free, but subject to prior registration. It should be noted that the number of places is limited to 20 participants.
