The Pestana Hotel Group and the Social and Parish Centre of São Bento will seal, this Wednesday, the 30th of April, a partnership that will allow for the expansion of the institution’s Alzheimer’s Unit.
A press release states:
“The signing takes place at the facilities of the Social and Parish Centre of São Bento, in Ribeira Brava, and marks another firm step in the social responsibility strategy of the Pestana Hotel Group, integrated in the Planet Guest programme. This support, estimated at more than 1 million euros, includes the acquisition of the property for the new wing, technical projects, and complete execution of the work.
The ceremony will be attended by the President of the Regional Government, Miguel Albuquerque, the Regional Secretary for Inclusion, Work and Youth, Paula Margarido, the Mayor of Ribeira Brava, Ricardo António Nascimento, the President of the Social and Parish Centre of S. Bento, Father Bernardino Trindade, and Dionísio Pestana, President of the Pestana Hotel Group.
“Supporting this project is, for me, a way to give back and invest in something fundamental: the care for people’s lives and dignity. I believe that we all have a responsibility to the community in which we were born and live. Ribeira Brava is the land where my parents were born, so I express gratitude and pay them my respects.” States Dionísio Pestana.
This gesture of solidarity is in addition to other initiatives that the Pestana Hotel Group has promoted within the scope of the exercise of its social responsibility in the Autonomous Region of Madeira, the most relevant being, in recent years, the support for the acquisition of the initial 60 hectares of firebreak in the mountains of Funchal (after the 2016 fire that devastated the capital) and the donation of 20 ventilators to SESARAM (during the COVID-19 pandemic).”
