The Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) confirms that depression Nuria, the name given by AEMET (Spanish State Meteorological Agency), “will be centered at approximately 32°N 19°W, and will affect Madeira tomorrow, before moving slowly northeast to Mainland Portugal.
Periods of rain or showers, sometimes heavy and accompanied by thunderstorms are expected until 06:00 Thursday morning. The wind will be moderate to strong southwest, with gusts up to 90 km/h, and 110 km/h, in the highlands, and yellow weather warnings have been issued.
Snowfall is expected in the mountainous regions.
