Depression Nuria Affects Madeira

The Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) confirms that depression Nuria, the name given by AEMET (Spanish State Meteorological Agency), “will be centered at approximately 32°N 19°W, and will affect Madeira tomorrow, before moving slowly northeast to Mainland Portugal.Advertisement

Periods of rain or showers, sometimes heavy and accompanied by thunderstorms are expected until 06:00 Thursday morning. The wind will be moderate to strong southwest, with gusts up to 90 km/h, and 110 km/h, in the highlands, and yellow weather warnings have been issued.

Snowfall is expected in the mountainous regions.
