CMF Promote Animal Vaccinations

The Funchal City Council is carrying out a new prophylaxis campaign for dogs and cats aged 3 months and over. The initiative will take place between the 15th and 24th of May throughout the local parishes of Funchal.

“The start of the campaign is scheduled for this weekend, the 15th, at the Parish Council of Santo António. Vaccinations will also be carried out in São Roque, at the Lombo Segundo school on the same day.” States a CMF spokesperson.

The following dates are listed below:

“To participate in this campaign, you need to register as places are strictly limited. All dogs must be on a lead or functional muzzle, except for ‘dangerous dog breeds,’ who must be leashed and muzzled, with the lead no longer than 1 metre. Cats must be kept in their appropriate carriers,” explains the CMF.

This free initiative includes a rabies vaccination (valid for 3 years), microchipping, registration in the SIAC (Identification System Pet Information), internal deworming against roundworms and tapeworms, and, when applicable, licensing in the Parish Councils.

All owners must present themselves and their citizen card or Identity Card, taxpayer number, and vet documentation, if they already have it.
