Acid Attack in Funchal

A 25-year-old man was hospitalized on Saturday with burns to his face and eyes after someone threw sulphuric acid in his face.  The incident took place in the Santo Amaro neighbourhood, Funchal.

Fortunately, the quick intervention of the Public Security Police (PSP) allowed for an immediate investigation, which led to the arrest of a 46-year-old man on the same day.

The victim was transported by the Portuguese Red Cross to the A & E department of the Dr. Nélio Mendonça Hospital, where he received treatment for burns on the lips and eye area.
