From now on it will be possible to make Social Security payments via bank transfer. This is made possible due to the printed individual IBAN printed on the document. This, says a Social Security Institute (ISS) spokesperson will make the payment process easier and more efficient.
“For each payment document issued, a once only IBAN reference is generated for the payment of the amount indicated in it. The IBAN is now included on all payment documents.”
To access the payment document, citizens and companies must go into the Segurança Social Direta Portal. Access the “Current Account” menu, go to “Payments to Social Security” and then “Consult amounts to be paid and issue payment documents,” explains the ISS.
During the last regimental hearing, the Minister of Labour had indicated that the Government wants to “continue to deepen the digital transformation of Social Security.”
In the coming months, the ISS will “launch a programme that reduces customer waiting lines at service desks, strengthen the fight against undue payments, and implement the option of paying by MB Way.” However, the last option is only scheduled for next year.
