Increase in Unskilled Workers

Unskilled professionals represent almost a seventh of the island’s workforce.

Data from the Regional Directorate of Statistics of Madeira reveal that in the second quarter of this year, 126.700 thousand people were employed, 18.900 thousand of which were classified as working in unskilled jobs.

In addition, the statistics show that around 5,800 thousand young people do not study or work. Furthermore, the average salary only just exceeds one thousand euros at €1,017.
