Polish Tourist Swept Away by Wave

A 38-year-old Polish citizen died today after being swept away by a wave in Poça das Lesmas while allegedly taking a photograph while in the company of his wife and child.

In a statement,  SANAS Madeira stated that at 14:00, they received a call, stating that a body had been seen floating in the water.  However, despite their best efforts, they were unable to save the man.

Due to the sea conditions, he was transported to the port of Porto Moniz where an ambulance from the Volunteer Firefighters of São Vicente and Porto Moniz and the PSP were waiting to collect the body.

Our thoughts are with his wife and child.
