How do I say this…Madeira-Weekly is a Tourist/Resident information blog; we love our island and want to portray our home in a positive way.
But once in a while, we receive a report that tourists are not being treated fairly in the popular “Mercado dos Lavradores” when paying for the produce they are tempted to buy. These visitors may then suspect that they have been duped into paying too much, and are disgruntled. The result is a bad reputation for the Mercado and for the Island altogether.
But there is a remedy: the Mercado Management has an office on the first floor. Behind the service counter of the “Macaronesia” café, the door to this management office is always open during business hours.
If a Tourist/Resident has the feeling that he has been paying too much for the products he bought, he can approach the Management Team; they will accompany the customer to the respective market stall and check the situation with the seller.
