22 of 29 Pharmacies Strike

SESARAM reports that in Madeira 22 out of 29 pharmacies took part in the strikes scheduled for today.

Today’s strike took place in the districts of Beja, Évora, Faro, Lisbon, Portalegre, Santarém, Setúbal, Azores, and Madeira, all demanding an update to the salary scales, recognition of number of employment years within the NHS service with regards to promotion and career progression, the adequacy of the number of pharmacists to the needs of the public service and the recognition by the Ministry of Health of ‘specialist’ titles.

The adherence to the district strike of pharmacists of the National Health Service was by 15:00 this afternoon at 87%, according to data released to Lusa by the National Union of Pharmacists (SNF).

Here, in Madeira, SESARAM stated that the average strike percentage was 62%.

SESARAM also informs that the “minimum services have been met and that they regret any inconvenience caused.
