New Drones Capable of Detecting Fires at Night

At the weekly review meeting of relief operations in Madeira last week, a new surveillance and arsonist detection infrared camera was presented by the Operational Command of Madeira (COM).

The meeting was attended by the Regional Secretary of Health and Civil Protection, Pedro Ramos, and used to demonstrate the capacity of a new infrared drone camera. The new camera can capture any movement in the mountains, especially in cases of suspected arsonists. This equipment is essential, due to the number of arsonists operating on the island, and whose activity has increased due to the warmer weather. The camera will also be used for surveillance operations.

Another advantage is that the equipment can be used to detect missing people, even at night.
