Madeiran Company Plants Trees to Offset Carbon Footprint

As part of the International Day of Forests and World Arbor Day (21st of March), the Regional Secretary for the Environment, Natural Resources, and Climate Change (SRAAC), Susana Prada, visited an area along Caminho dos Pretos where a local maritime-tourism activities company, Magic Dolphin, have planted trees.

This company wanted to compensate for its release of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere as part of its activity by planting the number of trees required to offset the carbon footprint of its three vessels. The reforested area covers eight thousand square metres.

Susana Prada, who is delighted with the gesture and commitment of a local company hopes that others may do the same as part of their social responsibility.

This type of business nitiative is supported by the SRAAC, through the IFCN, which provides areas under its management for this purpose.
