Star Wars: The Saga Continues

Whether you love it or hate it, Star Wars is making an impact on Madeira, as tourist hotspots and sleepy villages are feeling the full-throttle effect of filming.

So here are a couple of exclusion zones.

The Porto Moniz Campsite is closed until early next week (14th – 20th).

The quiet town of Lombo do Urzal, in Boaventura, is also one of the places where filming for the Star Wars series will take place.

In addition to a Red Cross ambulance, a PSP agent, and a security guard connected to the organisation, nothing has changed in this small quiet picturesque town located in the municipality of São Vicente.

The residents, of which there are few, told reporters that they knew something was happening but haven’t witnessed or experienced any upheaval due to filming.

Clube Naval, Seixal, has been sworn to secrecy, and all access to the site is closed and controlled by the PSP and film set security. What is known is that the pier and beach road has been cordoned off, and photography is forbidden.

Filming has taken place most of the day, and even the most remote and obscure viewing areas were under constant security supervision.
