The Municipal Firefighters of Machico were called out yesterday at 19:00 to help a 48-year-old British tourist who was lost in the Funduras area of Machico.
The tourist was walking from Porto da Cruz to Funduras via Boca do Risco. Unfortunately, he followed the wrong path and became lost. As a result, he contacted the emergency services and five members of the search and rescue team were sent alongside two forest guards.
The operation was a success, and finished at 01:00 this morning.
